It was the first time since 2020 that Canada invited skilled immigrants seeking a job in the country to apply via Express Entry for the Federal Skilled Worker Class. To note, the Express Entry system manages three programs:
– The Federal Skilled Workers Program (FSWP)
– The Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
– The Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
However, at the beginning of 2023, IRCC will include new authorities to conduct Express Entry draws that will invite the candidates based on attributes rather than overall CRS score. As a result, the draws which invite international skilled workers to Canada will see changes in 2023.
The present Express Entry all-program draws, according to Minister of Immigration Sean Fraser, do not successfully help Canada attract foreign people who best match the nation’s most in-demand skills and qualifications. He asserts that as a result of these modifications, Canada may see an improvement in retention rates [among those who settle in specific places} because individuals are coming in where they know they have potential because that was the foundation of their invitation to apply.
As per the new plan, IRCC will allow individuals for Canadian permanent residency through Express entry. The invitations will be based on occupation, language proficiency, and/or educational background. In addition, it would consult a wide variety of stakeholders to inform new categories under Express Entry.
